For the author that has a platform (which means people who follow their work through social media or attending speeches), the options are traditional publishing or indie publishing. There are pros and cons for each approach.

For the author that is building a platform, the choice is more clear: indie publishing. Even if the author chooses self-publishing, the key is to make it look like indie publishing. Under no circumstances should an author say his or her work is self-published.
