The Flower Trick

Michael Weiss

When Janet Dwyer is confirmed as the secretary of the treasury, she expects the steel trap of her integrity to be her greatest asset. Instead, it becomes a cage.

Trapped between a populist president determined to bet the American future on a volatile cryptocurrency and an ethereal “Shadow Council” of global power brokers, Janet discovers that the nation’s wealth has been weaponized. The president’s vision of a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve isn’t just a policy—it’s a vanity project with a $100 billion price tag and a family office reaping the rewards.

As the BRICS nations move to dismantle dollar hegemony, the global economy enters a period of tumultuous change. While Washington scrambles to find a “procedural error” to save face, the real power lies in the hands of Jinny Wu—a tech visionary who understands that in a world of digital fortresses, the greatest weapon isn’t a hack. It’s a trick of balance and poise.

From the frantic war rooms of the Treasury to the international serene garden of the Silicon Valley elite, The Flower Trick is a chillingly plausible journey through the “Dutch Tulip Disaster” of the twenty-first century. It is a story of how easily an empire can bend, and the high price of the hubris in ignoring its warning signs that can finally bring it to its knees.

Michael Weiss

Michael Weiss is a retired financial services professional with more than forty years of experience serving in various executive roles. In addition, he worked as a consultant for ten of those years helping firms build for success, and then as an adjunct professor trying to do the same for his students.  Self-described ‘old-school’, his approach has always been to try to plan deeply, negate confirmation biases, promote an ethical code, and to always learn and evolve.

He believes that character should always matter. But greed, arrogance, and willful ignorance seem to be core pillars that create the most friction in life and in business. Having been a close-up observer of these pitfalls, and of major successes, Michael looked for a way to bring these issues of character, business, and politics into a clear perspective in a real-world clash of the titans. A place where opposing goals and motivations can intersect with power and ambition.

Praise for The Flower Trick

“Just finished The Flower Trick by Michael Weiss. Intriguing plot, fantastic character development, and a masterful execution. The parallels between the book’s events and what is happening in the world right now are honestly wild. I’m still thinking about it as current events unfold. Thanks for the good read Michael Weiss, keep writing.”

“An awesome book. Very apropos of what is happening now with Crypto, BRICS and the US Dollar. I’ve been watching G Zero World with Ian Bremer on PBS and he has been talking a lot about similar subject matter in recent shows. I think it should be and will be a best seller.”

“A really engaging read that kept me turning the pages. Michael Weiss does a great job weaving together finance, technology, and global intrigue into a smart, timely thriller with characters that feel real. If you like books that make you think while keeping you hooked, you’ll enjoy this one.”
